Three Minute Thesis (3MT®)

3MT® is an academic research communication competition developed by the ¾«¶«´«Ã½app of Queensland (UQ), Australia.

Building on the success of our inaugural 2024 competition, UniSQ is proud to once again participate in the  in 2025. This exciting opportunity invites doctoral students (who have completed their confirmation of candidature) to showcase their research in a compelling three minute presentation. Finalists have the chance to gain national and international recognition, prize money, and new audiences for their research. 

About the Competition:

The Three Minute Thesis competition celebrates innovating research conducted by doctoral students. It helps develop their ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely to a non-specialist audience. All UniSQ 3MT® participants benefit from training and experience in research communication and presentation.

Prizes:

1st Prize: $1000* and the opportunity to represent UniSQ in the 2025 Virtual Asia-Pacific 3MT® Competition

2nd Prize: $500* 
 
People's Choice: $250*

*All prizes are to be used for related activities.  

 

Judging:

First and second place are selected by our judging panel.
 
The People’s Choice Award is determined by votes from the UniSQ community, giving everyone a chance to support their favourite presentation.
