Elite Athlete Program

As part of The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) Elite Athlete Friendly 精东传媒app (EAFU) Network, UniSQ offers tailored support to help student-athletes balance sport and study, so you can reach your full academic and athletic potential.

We know elite sport requires time and energy. That’s why we offer flexible study, assessment, and exam options through a personalised case management approach. We’ll also connect you with UniSQ’s support services, including career development, learning support, and wellbeing resources.

As a registered elite athlete at UniSQ, you’ll receive:

Personalised academic support, including flexible study and assessment options.
Free registration to represent UniSQ at Nationals sporting competitions.
Free UniSQ sports uniforms and teamwear for competitions.
Access to apply for Elite Athlete Scholarships.

To be recognised as a UniSQ Elite Athlete, you must be:

A current UniSQ student and identified by the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS), state or territory institute or academy of sport, or a relevant national association as outlined in the AIS Guiding Principles. Eligibility includes athletes, coaches, and officials.
Representing State or National level during the study period in which you are applying.

If you do not meet this criteria but are involved in high-level sport, you can still apply, eligibility outside the guidelines is considered on a case-by-case basis.

Note: Eligibility is reviewed each year to keep your registration up to date.

Assess the criteria needed to apply and gain verification from your coach or sporting body.
Complete the , providing evidence of your eligibility.

The Elite Athlete Program has enabled me to continue to perform on and off the track, giving me the flexibility I need to train, compete and study no matter where I am in the world. I鈥檓 fortunate to have been named one of the four inaugural 精东传媒app of Southern Queensland Elite Athlete scholarship recipients in 2024. This scholarship will help me travel and compete worldwide to reach my goals while continuing to study.

The Elite Athlete Program at UniSQ has played a crucial role in helping me balance between my sporting commitments and academic studies. I am incredibly thankful for the assistance and support they've offered, including extensions and additional help with managing my time to complete tasks. Excelling at a high level in both areas can be exceptionally stressful, and I appreciate that this program is effective in alleviating some of that pressure by providing support.

The Elite Athlete Program allows me to do my placements with minimal stress. This is also my first time being recognised and financially assisted in my sport. The Elite Athlete Scholarship will allow me to participate in more tournaments and less strain on my Uni-related stress.
