Entries open 1 May 2026. 

There is an entry fee of $40.00 per artist, once you receive payment confirmation you will gain access to the submission portal where you can submit up to five artworks for consideration. 

The UniSQ Biennial Art Award is open to Australian citizens and permanent residents.

There will be two rounds of judging. In the first round of pre-selection, the judges will select finalist works for exhibition from the images provided, and those finalists will be invited to exhibit their work in the UniSQ Art Gallery. 

Finalist works will be judged by a panel of judges, chaired by the Director of Creative UniSQ, comprised of the Curator (Arts and Exhibitions), one representative from the Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery, and one suitably qualified independent guest judge. Judging criteria is based on three equally evaluated criteria of technical skill, originality, and conceptual strength.

Yes, we welcome artists to submit a maximum of five artworks. Please ensure that the artworks you wish to enter into the competition are submitted at the same time, in one submission.

No, let your creativity flow – there is no theme or preferred medium. Every medium, from oil on canvas to sculpture to multimedia, is welcome.
